What To Expect
Our physical and occupational therapists provide individualized treatment plans based on the patient’s needs and lifestyle. Your first step is to make an appointment for an initial evaluation. The purpose of the initial evaluation is to identify information that allows an individualized treatment plan. This treatment plan is based on the initial evaluation as well as information provided by your physician. If you were seen here at Boca Raton Orthopaedic Group by one of our physicians, our therapists will first review your medical record prior to the evaluation. Following the initial evaluation your treatment plan may include any combination of the following services:
- Therapeutic exercise to increase strength and mobility
- Manual therapy
- Taping
- Heat or ice
- Electrical stimulation and in some cases ultrasound
- Gait training
- Movement training
- Sport specific training
- Splinting or orthotics
- Postural training
- Home exercise program
Additional assessments such as running analysis & functional movement screening may be performed.
Your physical or occupational therapist will set up a treatment plan specific to your needs. Specifically, the frequency of care (usually 2-3 times per week) as well as the duration (how long). In addition, the therapist will establish goals and monitor such goals. In cases were a patient is not progressing as planned a re-evaluation and consultation with the referring physician is often pursued.
